Facilitating new studies of adequate rigor that mitigate the limitations of existing studies sufficient to raise the certainty of evidence would be the best way to try and expand the access of acupuncture to the patients most likely to benefit from it.
Studies comparing acupuncture with placebo or sham are probably not the priority for reasons stated in the Limitations section; rather, the priority should be studies comparing acupuncture with other recommended, accepted, or active therapies for the condition.
